About

As a member of the Independent Charities of America, Diabetes Prevention and Aid Fund works to elevate the quality of life for disadvantaged children and their families in America and throughout the world.

DPAF recognizes the devastating effects diabetes has on its victims and their family members.

Prevention is the perhaps the best weapon against this chronic disease. Part of the core focus Diabetes Prevention and Aid Fund is to provide diabetes prevention education; medical services, equipment and supplies; and fresh nutritional fruits and vegetables to disadvantaged or at risk families. This is in keeping with the Power To Prevent Diabetes 7 Step Plan.

 

Our Mission Statement

Providing life saving fresh fruits and vegetables to impoverished at risk families. Science has proven that we can prevent diabetes with our seven step plan.

Yearly Goals:

  • To rescue 1,700,000 pounds of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables from being thrown away in the Landfill at Nogales Arizona.
  • To distribute $2,550,000 worth of Fresh Fruits and vegetables to Hungry Families and Children through out Arizona and Mexico.
  • To provide 1,307,692 Nutritious meals of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.To serve 34,000 Hungry and Needy Families with Nutritional Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
  • To Help 102,000 disadvantaged Children

 

Strategy for achieving Goals:

  • Develop relationships with produce brokers in Nogales and Phoenix who will allow us to pick up the produce they do not want.
  • Collaborate with other charities of similar vision for shared use of facilities and equipment for rescuing and distribution of produce.
  • Link up with other charities for actual distribution of produce to recipients.
  • To share the vision of rescuing and distributing Fresh Fruits and Vegetables to the hungry to the public that they may participate financially as well as through volunteering their time.

 

Capacity for Achieving our Goals:

  • The organization has over 20 years of experience in rescuing and distributing food to the needy.
  • The management of the organization has over 60 years of combined experience in rescuing and distributing food to the hungry and needy.
  • The organization has a volunteer base of professionals and workers who have consistently provided their expertise.
  • The organization has consistently generated the resources to accomplish its objectives over the last 10 years.

 

Measurement of progress towards goals.

  • The number of pounds of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Rescued is monitored on a daily basis.
  • The Value of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Distributed are monitored on a daily basis.
  • The number of Nutritious meals of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables that were provided is monitored on a daily basis.
  • The number of Hungry and Needy Families served with Nutritional Fresh Fruits and Vegetables is monitored on a daily basis.
  • The number of Children helped with Nutritional Fresh Fruits and Vegetables is monitored on a daily basis.
